  • Roots: We begin with self-discovery, exploring your identity, values, strengths, and the influences that have shaped you.

  • Soil: Next, we assess your environment, identifying supportive conditions and barriers that impact your well-being and goals.

  • Trunk: Building on your self-discovery, we delve into your core values and self-awareness, understanding how these guide your decisions and developing emotional awareness.

  • Branches: Envisioning your future, we explore your aspirations and potential pathways, aligning your goals with your core values.

  • Leaves Abound: Finally, we focus on flourishing, identifying what needs to be true for you to thrive, setting goals, creating optimal conditions, and maintaining positive habits.

Guiding Principles

Rachel F. Ellison, M.Ed.

Walking along my Path

Fifteen years ago, my professional journey began as a special education teacher and director in Philadelphia. Working closely with students, their families, and educational leaders, my mission was clear: to provide the best possible educational experience in a system that often felt designed to work against our students. Witnessing firsthand the transformative power of the right resources and environment - how they could enable anyone, especially children, to grow, learn, and thrive - fueled my passion for creating equitable opportunities and enacting system-level change. This drive led me to roles in educational non-profits, where I supported multi-million-dollar budgets and fostered external relationships that raised over $75 million, consistently surpassing goals.

During this time, I also experienced the many joys and challenges of life: marrying my husband, welcoming two beautiful children (now 4 and 7), and navigating the highs and lows of family and career—from job promotions and burnout to parenting triumphs and embarrassments. Life was constantly evolving.

A challenging medical journey prompted a profound shift in my perspective. During a period of recovery, I was forced to slow down, and in that stillness - with the world moving around me as I laid still - clarity emerged. This reflection reconnected me with my core values and illuminated a new path forward, one I couldn’t quite see before. I rediscovered a long-held desire to pursue a license in therapy but serendipitously found my path in coaching and the principles of positive psychology instead. This once invisible path was now clearly in front of me, ready for me to embrace and create the life I truly wanted, and one that met the needs of my new reality.

Today, through Uncovered Pathways, I aim to help others navigate their journeys with the same clarity and purpose. By providing evidence-based strategies and personalized support, I empower individuals to uncover their own paths to flourishing and achievement, helping them live lives that are no longer far off dreams, but ones they’ve consciously designed.

 FAQs

  • Coaching is a forward-looking, client-directed process that helps individuals move from a stable baseline to flourishing, while therapy helps individuals move from suffering to baseline. Since therapy and coaching can address particular aspects of one's life, it's not uncommon for a person to have both a therapist and a coach.

In coaching, we focus on identifying where you are, where you want to be, what is getting in the way, and how we can work together to overcome those barriers and develop strategies to achieve your goals. Coaching emphasizes that you know yourself best, helping to reflect back and clarify what is likely already inside of you, and providing effective tools and strategies to support your journey.

  • Coaching sessions last approximately 60 minutes and are primarily conducted over Google Meet. During these sessions, you will have the opportunity to bring forward topics or challenges for discussion. Together, we will identify underlying issues or obstacles, set clear goals based on your unique needs and aspirations, and work towards moving you closer to your desired future self.

  • You're ready for a coaching engagement if you're open to self-reflection, eager to set and achieve personal or professional goals, and willing to invest time and effort into your growth. If you feel stuck, seek clarity, or aspire to reach your full potential, coaching can provide the guidance and support you need to move forward.
